The Latest from the WCC...

19.3.11

A new year, a new hunting year!!! All the best from the WCC lads!

We are all busy making sure our gear is spot on and scouting animals for the season ahead has been a focus over the summer months when the hunting slows down for us.

Danny's mountain boar above is what he and I (Rory) are still all smiles about since that hunt in late 2010, and we look forward to sharing such adrenaline rushes in the coming 2011 months

Well Danny has finally gotten out for a hunt! 'Grandpa' got out with his recurve and  wandered the green hills put a couple of arrows in the air nicely :)

Well 'the kiwi' has now well and truely blooded his new (and first) bow, and took home a swag-full of backstraps for the hot plate!

We couldn't find many goats in the open country so we had to punish our legs and head high to find some small mobs enjoying the afternoon sun.

Hamish aka 'the kiwi' made sure he was within his accurate range before taking his shots and we actually missed some possible opportunities becase we wanted to make sure the intended targets were quite close and they sensed our presence. It was a credit to the 'newbie' for passing up these opportunities and making sure of the shots he did take.

It's great to introduce these sorts of new guys (and girls) to our sport, and Hamish is a great example of how getting your gear set up properly, some practice, and some leg-work can have you go from thinking about taking your first game to within a couple of months acheiving it!

Well done mate!

Andy Ivy, great mate of the WCC has been into the boars up north! And he's put down the trad bow for a minute and slammed some hogs with a compound. Andy, don't let your hair get caught in the cams!!!! LOL

Awesome hogs mate, some real big bodied pigs and the tusks are crackers!

Great to see Mark Bates has his site up and running! www.batestaxidermyandsupplies.com

Have a look, Mark is a quality craftsman and is also supplying Australia with a range of taxidermy items. Great going Mark!

On another note, Seems John (Batesy) has slipped away for a couple of days hunting, (THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW BATESY!) so the rest of us are now eager to see and hear how his hunt went. Hopefully he ill have a story or two to tell and some pictures for us all to enjoy

 17.9.2010

Well the website has been up and running for a couple of weeks now and we've had a great response from the bowhunters who've come and had a look!

The WCC boys are out and about hunting wise, with some local properties getting a looking over in the last few weeks. Mozza is looking forward to a trip to the cape (Cape York, QLD) in late October and hopefully I (Rory) can get away up north or out west in November also.

The four of us are making plans for a longweekend hunt together out west in late November also!

A shout out to the 'Friends of the WCC', you guys make up the family that makes all the freezing cold mornings, steep climbs, and missed shots worthwhile and we know you all will add plenty of great stuff to the site.

Jase Watts has put up our first product review with some pics and a video of his new Tom Kelley recurve, well done mate!

Will leave you with this pic, it's famous amongst those who know of the story of what followed Batesy hoeing into the half cooked pork and the pink inside chicken! You can see Batesy's left hand making it's way to the meat!
